I used the Cinema Poster Template for this assignment. The Gradient in the background simulates the light from above the water. The Mermaids body is entirely created using the Shape Tool together with the Pathfinder Tool and Free Transform Tool. The shadows on the face and body were created using Eclipse Tool and Pathfinder Tool. Her arms and mermaid tail are narrowed with Free Transform Tool to create the desired Shape. I drew her hair with the Pen Tool, using Fill, and added shadows and highlights. I added a Linear Gradient and small Eclipses in different tones and shades to her Tail to create a 3D Form.

I used a Warm Color Mood and used at least 3 hues and 3 values of each hue.

To simulate Movement under the water I’ve used a Brush Stroke with small white speckles and her hair and tail are drawn with curvy lines and shapes. The Image Trace Function was used on the rocks and coral reef. Bubbles are created with Stroke from Eclipse Tool and scattered across the poster to achieve Movement and Unity. There is Contrast between her vibrant hair to the duller, darker background making her stand out and putting the Emphasis on her.
