cinderella book cover

Objective Description:

I’ve used the principle Proportion to simulate a spatial relationship of a deep forest. The trees get smaller and are placed higher in the composition. I used rich, saturated color in the front and made the color less saturated and vibrant, the tone lighter and more neutral in the back. Doing this I used color to create a simulated three-dimensional space. The wheels are partially hidden by the trees to simulate a spatial relationship.

The emphasis is on the carriage, with all the trees framing it, the stone path leading to it and its placement beingin the center of the composition. The mice are also looking at it and lights are coming from inside the carriage to emphasise the focal point.

The Transform - Reflect - Copy effect is used generously in this composition to achive Unity. The scattered stars also enhances unity in this composition. I duplicated different trees and leaves and used the Free Transform Tool to transform them into different shapes. I used Pathfinder alot in this composition to unite and create negative space.

The analogous color scheme consists of green, blue and blue-green hues to create a moody, dark forest night.

The elements used in this composition are Line, Shape, Space and Color and Principles used are Balance, Proportion, Emphasis and Contrast.

I hope you have enjoyed my design.
